OBJECTIVE: Communicate Clearly throughout Construction
TQG worked alongside the Missoula Montana Airport to build awareness among tenants, employees, and the general public as they undertook a multi-year, multi-million-dollar terminal renovation.
SOLUTION: A Strong Plan with Tactics that Connect
The project included a communication plan, branding, and numerous design elements specific to the construction project. The goals included developing a brand that matched MSO’s personality – personable, helpful, informative, lighthearted, and playful.
Working in close collaboration with airport staff, TQG developed the “Bear with Us” campaign concept, which included a logo with supporting collateral, a community contest to name the airport’s life-sized terminal mascot, an illustration and personality for the bear to carry through the campaign, and more.
TQG supported MSO as Phase 1 of construction came to completion and also managed event planning for the terminal dedication and public open house (members of the TQG team even traveled to MSO to manage the terminal dedication event with many members of the media and high-profile guests in attendance). TQG continues ongoing support with social media management, newsletter and press release writing, graphic design, and other projects as they arise.
RESULTS: Positive Public Sentiment of the Ongoing Construction Project
MSO experienced positive media coverage throughout the terminal renovation. Passenger feedback at events and on social media was overwhelmingly positive. The overall outlook is that terminal represents the region well and positions MSO for continued passenger growth, which they have seen throughout 2023. The airport now has a mascot for life, as Charlo has found his permanent home in bag claim.
